Some running equipment is great! And other equipment not so great! Let's find out what is worth your money and what isn't

Essential Gear for Every Runner: Must-Have Items in 2023

Hey everyone! Before we dive into the must-have running gear, I've got a question for you. So, in the past week, three different people actually asked me if I would start a run club. How cool is that? I'd love to hear your thoughts by filling out the survey below about a potential run club. Your input means the world to me! <3

When it comes to running gear in 2023, there is a wide range of useful and useless items available. Some examples of useless items are shoe lights, clips, and various other accessories. checkout the link below if you want to see what running equipment I DON’T recommend

However, there are certain running essential that no runner should be without. These include Bodyglide for chafing prevention, a smartwatch for tracking performance, a running vest or bladder for hydration, high-quality running shoes, comfortable running socks. These items can greatly enhance the running experience and ensure that you are well-prepared for your workouts.

Bodyglide

This is one of my favorite and life-saving pieces of running equipment that I use on almost every run. It was so useful that I even kept it in my car for over a month to ensure I always had access to it at the start of a run.

Bodyglide is honestly a lifesaver! I would highly recommend all runners having access to some sort of chaffing prevention. Other options include

Running vest

If you are looking at getting into longer distance running (especially during summer) and want a simple way to carry water/nutrition and even your phone with you I would highly recommend getting a running vest. This is the one I have but there are many different options out there which would do the job.

Running shoes

One of the most crucial things for consistent running is a pair of good running shoes. Not only can this prevent long-term injury, but it can also make the running experience more enjoyable and less painful. There are many different running shoes available, and I would recommend visiting a local running shoe store to get fitted before making a purchase.

Running socks

One of my favourite Christmas gifts is a good pair of running socks. These are generally one of the most underrated pieces of running equipment and once you start using running socks you often can never go back to using a normal pair of socks for your runs.
