⚠️ Burnout ⚠️
Please send me Netflix recommendations 🙏🏻
Hey all! Slightly different one this week given some fun events that happened in my life! 😁
Burnout: A Warning to Listen to Your Body
Burnout is a real issue that can have serious consequences. It's easy to push ourselves too hard, especially when society glorifies the "hustle" culture. The pressure to work long hours, take on more responsibilities, and constantly be productive can be overwhelming. However much people like Goggins will tell you to “carry the boats” sometimes you need to put the boats down and have a rest.

Learn from my mistake!
I have had an intimate relationship with burnout for a long time now. Experiencing small micro burnouts before (getting sick for a day or two) but bouncing back very quickly and not really being affected by it. However, earlier this week I ended up in the hospital because of viral gastroenteritis. Normally, this is something that can be treated by resting at home. But because of all the running (and a couple of other things) I had been doing, my immune system was weakened, and the virus hit me hard. I experienced excruciating abdominal pain, couldn't sleep, and felt extremely faint and dizzy. Even four days later, I'm still feeling the effects of the virus. (Lucky me! I know 🤣)
This experience brought me back to reality and reminded me how hard burnout can really hit you. It is NECESSARY to listen to your body and give yourself a rest every so often. Even if this means putting things aside that you love for a little while.
Burnout can manifest itself in many different ways not just sickness but; depression, anxiety, heart disease or even diabetes. Burnout is not something which people should be looking for or even striving for.
This is just your small reminder that it is okay to slow down. Listen to your body and take some time to recharge.
Tips
Here are some small things which I am going to be implementing to make sure that this doesn’t happen again
Prioritise self care
Set boundaries (don’t overcommit yourself)
Take breaks
Get enough sleep
